Privacy Policy — VAT Check

VAT Check is a Google Sheets™ add-on that validates EU VAT numbers against the official VIES register of the European Commission.

What data is processed

The add-on reads the VAT numbers you select in your spreadsheet and sends each one to the European Commission's VIES service to check whether it is valid. The VIES service returns the registered business name and address for valid numbers.

Where data is stored

Results are written to your own spreadsheet:

• Results are written to a VAT Results sheet you control.
• A hidden _VAT_CACHE sheet stores previous lookup results with timestamps. Results can be reused from the cache for 30 days; records remain in the spreadsheet until you delete them.

VAT Check also keeps a usage counter in Apps Script™ ScriptProperties to count new checks for the free monthly allowance. The add-on operates no separate server and does not store a user profile or email address. VAT numbers and results are sent only to your spreadsheet and, for validation, the official VIES service.

Removing stored results

You can delete the VAT Results and _VAT_CACHE sheets from your spreadsheet to remove their contents. Removing the add-on alone does not delete those sheets. The monthly counter in ScriptProperties records a month and count, not VAT numbers or user identifiers.

Platform permissions

The platform may request basic identity permissions needed for the add-on environment. VAT Check does not read or store your profile or email address and does not share identity data with VIES.

What we do not do

• No analytics, no tracking, no cookies.
• No data is sold or shared for advertising. VAT numbers are disclosed to VIES for the validation you request; the add-on runs on Google Apps Script™.

Google API Services User Data Policy

VAT Check's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
